In the early hours of the morning today, Anonymous (a group of hackers on steroids//internet hate machine) was dicking around. We wanted to make a semi-believable troll and spread it to the world. Ideas ranged from saying Rick Astley had sex with his mom to posting fake John McCain obituaries in the newspapers. We settled with spreading a rumour that Steve Jobs had had a massive heart attack and got rushed to the hospital. Someone posted an iReport on CNN, another alerted TUAW, and then once the iReport was up we put it on Digg and Dugg the shit out of it. Here's what happened to Apple's stock before they figured out wtf was going on:
